Statement – Food Test Results

Bemo brand statement on the testing of Bemo Cold Pressed River Fish and other products in our range

Dear Customers,

In response to hypotheses circulating on social media about the presence of mycotoxins, and unconfirmed suggestions that our products could be harmful, we would like to state officially that Bemo Cold Pressed River Fish food from batch 01/2026 was and is completely safe for animals.

Committed to the highest standards, we carried out detailed laboratory tests of the withdrawn batch for the presence of mycotoxins. The results are very good – they confirmed only a marginal, trace presence of mycotoxins, well within the permitted European limits and posing no risk whatsoever to dogs' health. The following values were recorded in the sample tested:

  • Ochratoxin A (OTA): < 0.50 µg/kg (result below the limit of quantification). According to the Commission (EU) Recommendations, the guidance value for ochratoxin A in compound feed is 0.01 mg/kg, which corresponds to 10 µg/kg. This means that the level in our food is lower than the safe limits.
  • Zearalenone (ZEN): 13 µg/kg. The EU guidance value for zearalenone is 0.2 mg/kg, which corresponds to 20 µg/kg. The level found is below the permitted limit.

A sample of food from this batch was retained by the manufacturer during production in accordance with the applicable standards. This allows full and reliable verification of the quality of every Bemo food produced, even if it is later withdrawn from sale for technological reasons.

In addition, further to the information provided in our previous statement, the retained samples from the batch 01/2026 that was the subject of complaints were tested for moulds and yeasts by Jednostka Ratownictwa Chemicznego Sp. z o.o. Grupa Azoty in Tarnów. Tests of the material submitted by a customer with a visible white coating on the kibble (Test report No. ZL/01267/M/002312/05718/2026 of 27.02.2026) showed moulds at a level of 2.7x10³ CFU/1 g and yeasts below 1.0x10¹ CFU/1 g. As we reported earlier, this was the result of the higher-than-expected moisture content of this particular batch and improper storage conditions after the packaging had been opened.

To guarantee the highest quality of the products we sell, the Bemo brand also commissioned the same tests on the currently sold, technologically stable batch of Bemo Cold Pressed River Fish. The laboratory analyses gave excellent results:

  • Mycotoxin tests: showed completely safe, trace levels (Ochratoxin A: < 0.50 µg/kg; Zearalenone: 13 µg/kg).
  • Mould and yeast tests: the report issued by Grupa Azoty (Test report No. ZL/04391/M/006251/20336/2026) confirms that no limits were exceeded – the yeast and mould count in the current batch is below the limit of quantification (< 1.0x10¹ CFU/1 g).

The safety of the products we sell and the health of your pets remain the Bemo brand's constant priority. To give our Customers complete peace of mind, we commissioned preventive laboratory tests for mycotoxins, moulds and yeasts for all the other foods in our range – testing both the earlier batch 01/2026 and the batch currently on sale. All the results clearly confirm the very high quality and safety of our products:

Bemo Cold Pressed Grass Fed Lamb (with lamb):

  • Batch 01.2026: The level of the mycotoxin tested (Fumonisin B1) was < 40 µg/kg (result below the limit of quantification, Report No. W/0/06/2026/1075/F/2). The yeast and mould count was at a safe level of < 4.0x10¹ CFU/1 g (Report No. ZL/01267/M/002310/05717/2026).
  • Current batch: The mycotoxin level (Fumonisin B1) was < 40 µg/kg (Report No. L/0/06/2026/1021/F/1). The yeast and mould count remains below the limit of quantification, i.e. < 1.0x10¹ CFU/1 g (Report No. ZL/04391/M/006249/20335/2026).

Bemo Cold Pressed Wild Venison (with game and venison):

  • Batch 01.2026: The mycotoxin level (Deoxynivalenol) was only 436 µg/kg – comfortably within the limits (Report No. W/0/06/2026/1075/F/3). The mould count was < 4.0x10¹ CFU/1 g and the yeast count 4.0x10¹ CFU/1 g (Report No. ZL/01267/M/002301/05716/2026).
  • Current batch: The mycotoxin level (Deoxynivalenol) was 230 µg/kg (Report No. L/0/06/2026/1021/F/4). The yeast and mould count is < 1.0x10¹ CFU/1 g (below the limit of quantification, Report No. ZL/04391/M/006243/20334/2026).

Bemo Cold Pressed Beef Angus (with Angus beef):

  • Batch 01.2026: The total of the mycotoxins tested (Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2) was just 0.37 µg/kg (Report No. W/0/06/2026/1075/F/4). The yeast count was < 4.0x10¹ CFU/1 g and the mould count < 1.0x10¹ CFU/1 g (Report No. ZL/01267/M/002319/05719/2026).
  • Current batch: The total of the mycotoxins tested was just 0.51 µg/kg (Report No. L/0/06/2026/1021/F/3). The yeast and mould count is < 1.0x10¹ CFU/1 g (below the limit of quantification, Report No. ZL/04391/M/006253/20337/2026).

We would therefore like to emphasise firmly that all Bemo foods – both those from the first batches and those currently on sale – were and are completely safe for your animals. This position is fully confirmed by the results of tests carried out by accredited independent laboratories (GBA POLSKA Sp. z o.o. and Jednostka Ratownictwa Chemicznego Sp. z o.o. Grupa Azoty).
